Richard Chamberlain, who is well-known for starring in hit miniseries like The Thorn Birds and Shogun, died at the age of 90.

The late actor’s death was confirmed to Variety by his publicist Harlan Boll, who stated that Chamberlain died on Saturday, March 29, in Hawai’i due to complications after a stroke.

Martin Rabbett, Chamberlain’s longtime partner who also worked as an actor, shared a meaningful tribute after his death, saying, “Our beloved Richard is with the angels now.”

“He is free and soaring to those loved ones before us. How blessed were we to have known such an amazing and loving soul,” Rabbett went on. “Love never dies. And our love is under his wings lifting him to his next great adventure.”

Chamberlain took over TV screens throughout the years with his memorable performances. He first gained major attention for playing Dr. James Kildare in Dr. Kildare in the 1960s before starring in movies like Julius Caesar, The Three Musketeers, and The Count of Monte-Cristo.

In the 1970s and ’80s, Chamberlain took on a few other popular roles in TV miniseries, starring in Centennial, Shogun, and The Thorn Birds. Chamberlain continued acting for many years, with his last role in the 2019 film Finding Julia
