Riot Games has announced the new name of their upcoming tradable card game: Riftbound: League of Legends Trading Card Game. Riftbound is set in Runeterra, the setting of League of Legends and Arcane — as well as some of its other tabletop games. The game will launch with over 300 cards in a set subtitled Origins. The set will release over the summer in China, followed by a release in “many English-speaking countries in October 25”, according to a press release from Riot.

Riftbound can be played 1v1, 2v2, or in a free-for-all multiplayer format. Similar to the digital card game, Legend of Runeterra, the game will have champions as powerful cards. Players can build their deck around a champion with supporting cards. We can expect Champion Decks, pre-constructed sets of 56 cards, built around Viktor, Jinx, and Lee Sin. We can also expect to see appearances from Annie, Garen, Lux, Master Yi, Volibear, Yasuo, and more. Other cards will have in-game items, runes, and spells. The official website also shows art for the popular champions Kai’Sa and Ahri.

Players can either pick up a boxed set called Riftbound: Proving Grounds with a variety of starter decks, or 14-card booster packs. Riot wall be partnering with UVS Games, a proven distributor in the TCG scene, to make sure Riftbound can be found in local game stores. If your shop already carries UniVersus Collectible Card Game — a franchise that includes characters from Attack on Titan, Critical Role, and other beloved fandoms — there’s a good chance you’ll see it at retail.
