RIU Expands London Presence with New 464-Room Hotel

RIU Hotels & Resorts has opened the Hotel Riu Plaza London The Westminster, its second hotel in London, featuring 464 rooms.

RIU Hotels & Resorts has expanded its presence in London with the opening of the Hotel Riu Plaza London The Westminster. This new property is the second RIU hotel in the city, following the Hotel Riu Plaza London Victoria, which opened in July 2023.

The Hotel Riu Plaza London The Westminster offers 464 rooms and is strategically located near key landmarks, including the River Thames, Tate Britain, Westminster Abbey, the Houses of Parliament, and Big Ben. The hotel is also in proximity to Buckingham Palace, St James’s Park, and the London Eye.

Amenities at the hotel include a full buffet breakfast, a lobby café bar, meeting rooms, and a 24-hour gym. The hotel was originally constructed in 2003 and underwent a complete renovation in 2021. Following RIU’s acquisition, the hotel joined the RIU Plaza portfolio and, following a recent refurbishment, requires no major adaptation work.

The new hotel is situated approximately a 15-minute walk from the Hotel Riu Plaza London Victoria. Its interior design features elements inspired by the world of espionage, reflecting its proximity to MI5 and MI6 headquarters.

This opening marks the thirteenth property in RIU’s urban portfolio, which includes locations in Panama, Guadalajara, Madrid, Miami, Chicago, San Francisco, New York, Berlin, Dublin, and Toronto. RIU continues to focus on expanding in major global cities and is currently constructing a third hotel in New York while exploring additional opportunities in Europe’s major capitals.
