Musical festival season might be nearing its end, but the party’s still going strong in downtown Calgary.

In fact, it’ll continue late into September, with River Hall transforming Lot 6 into a vibrant destination for good food, live music and family-friendly programming.

The best part: it’s all free and sponsored by the City of Calgary, in partnership with Aire Commune Productions.

What to expect

This end-of-summer space will offer five weekends of free, all-ages programming in a popular section of the Calgary downtown core from Aug. 29 to Sept. 28.

The city has partnered with Aire Commune Productions to host the ultimate weekend destination space, bringing neighbours, residents, and visitors together to celebrate the end of summer.

It’ll be a pop-up paradise from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sundays.

The concept builds on last year’s success, which saw more than 5,000 Calgarians come out to experience it.

“It’s wonderful to see downtown spaces filled with energy and connection,” says Evelyn Mytka of the Eau Claire Community Association. “Whether it’s yoga on the deck, ice cream in the afternoon or dancing to live music in the evening, there’s something for everyone.”

Local favourites

Attendees of this year’s River Hall can expect to sip on craft beer from Annex Ale and Eighty-Eight Brewing Co., and cool off with ice cream from Made by Marcus with features from Monogram Coffee.

There will also be a Sunday farm stand with fresh and local produce courtesy of Shirley’s Greenhouses.

It’s all part of a strategy by the City of Calgary to make the downtown core more vibrant, inclusive and liveable.

“With City Council’s approval of the land use redesignation of Lot 6, we can look forward to new programming and amenities starting in spring 2026,” says Ward 7 Councillor Terry Wong.

For now, the So Long Summer series is sure to bring some spice to the final nights of summer. Programming will include a DJ kickoff party, Bow River yoga, a CJSW takeover and even a skateboard care workshop hosted by Droppin’ In.

The best memories are made spontaneously, so grab your board and head on down to River Hall on a weekend this September. We’ll catch you there!
