Scandic and SAS, two significant players in the Nordic travel industry, have formed a strategic partnership to provide exclusive benefits to their loyalty program members, set to roll out in the first quarter of 2025.

The partnership, titled “Friends with Benefits,” intends to offer attractive and competitive benefits to customers through shared touchpoints. It hopes to create more personalized and seamless travel and hotel experiences for the over 11 million members in the two leading loyalty programs.

The partnership’s initial stage involves enabling status matching between Scandic Friends and EuroBonus and facilitating easy point conversion between the programs. These benefits will be launched in the first quarter of 2025, with more to be introduced later in the year.

Jens Mathiesen, President and CEO of Scandic Hotels Group, expressed anticipation for the partnership, stating that it will create strong incentives for customers to choose Scandic and SAS for their travel needs. Similarly, Anko van der Werff, President and CEO of SAS, highlighted the unique offering that the partnership will provide to enhance the travel experience for their EuroBonus members.

In the fall of 2024, Scandic launched a new version of its loyalty program, Scandic Friends, to enhance its commercial offering, build loyalty, and offer more relevant experiences. The partnership with SAS aligns with the ongoing development of Scandic Friends as a standalone loyalty program designed to create added value for members of both companies’ loyalty programs over time.

Scandic is the largest hotel company in the Nordic countries, with approximately 280 hotels and 58,000 hotel rooms in operation and under development at more than 130 destinations. SAS is a major airline operating in the same region.
