Scandic is set to open a new 138-room Scandic Go hotel in Turku, Finland, with renovations starting in August 2025 and completion expected in the second half of 2026.

Scandic has announced plans to expand its Scandic Go brand in Finland by opening a new hotel in Turku. The new establishment will be centrally located and feature 138 rooms. This development is part of Scandic’s strategy to enhance its presence in the region, which is experiencing growth in tourism, business, and cultural activities.

The new hotel will be created by converting part of the former Scandic Atrium building. Renovation work is scheduled to begin in August 2025, with the hotel expected to open in the latter half of 2026. The remaining portion of the Atrium building will continue to undergo development.

The hotel will be situated between Turku’s developed harbor and the university area, offering convenient access to the city’s main attractions and public transportation. It will provide parking facilities and be accessible by city bus and bike, with proximity to the Market Square.

Turku is recognized as a significant destination and a gateway to the Finnish archipelago. It is the fourth largest region in Finland and serves as a hub for international cruise traffic, as well as passenger and cargo traffic to and from Sweden. The city is also noted for its business activities, particularly in the maritime and technology sectors.

Upon completion, the new Scandic Go hotel will bring Scandic’s total room count in Turku to 881. The hotel will adhere to the Nordic Swan Ecolabel standards, which is the official environmental certification in the Nordic countries.

In addition to the Turku location, Scandic has plans to open more Scandic Go hotels in other Finnish cities, including Oulu and Helsinki. This expansion is part of Scandic’s broader strategy to capitalize on increasing demand from both national and international guests in the Finnish market.
