Scandic Hotels Group has signed two long-term leases with property owner JV Nordväst Fastighet AB to take over two existing hotels in Helsingborg and Jönköping, Sweden. The hotels, totaling 199 rooms, will undergo major renovations and be rebranded to Scandic Go, with openings expected in the first half of 2026.

This move is part of Scandic’s ongoing effort to establish more hotels under the Scandic Go brand. In July, the company revealed plans to open two new hotels in Gothenburg and Umeå. The addition of the Helsingborg and Jönköping locations brings the number of planned Scandic Go hotels to six, totaling 851 rooms across Sweden and Finland.

By taking over existing hotels or converting office spaces in areas where Scandic has a low market share, the company aims to accelerate the establishment of Scandic Go hotels. Both Helsingborg and Jönköping are crucial economic hubs in Sweden, and the centrally located new hotels are expected to cater to increasing demand from business and leisure travelers.

The Helsingborg Hotel will have 96 rooms, about 500 meters from Helsingborg’s central station and ferry connections to Helsingør. The Jönköping location, with 103 rooms, is centrally located in the city center, offering easy access to various entertainment options and attractions. Both hotels will be certified by the Nordic Swan Ecolabel after their official opening.

Jens Mathiesen, President & CEO of Scandic Hotels Group, stated that the new hotels would boost Scandic’s market position in both cities and expressed enthusiasm for the ongoing growth of the Scandic Go brand in Sweden, the Nordic countries, and Germany.

Peter Jangbratt, Managing Director, Sweden at Scandic Hotels, highlighted Scandic Go’s positive progress, stating that the brand continues to attract property partners for long-term lease agreements. He also expressed confidence that the new brand would bring new opportunities for their partners and enable Scandic Go’s expansion in various destinations with relatively short lead times.
