Luxury hotel group Kempinski has appointed Sébastien Mariette as the General Manager of its new development, Kempinski Harbour Heights Bahrain. The new hotel and residential complex is set to open by the end of 2025. In addition to his role at the Bahrain property, Mariette will also act as Vice President of Operations for Kempinski Hotels in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, the Levant and Morocco.
Kempinski’s return to Bahrain is marked by this new hotel, situated in one of the highest towers in the Kingdom. The property will feature 74 guest rooms and 186 residences, offering views across the Marina and Manama skyline. Additional facilities will include a rooftop pool, spa and wellness facilities, a panoramic gym, and meeting and event spaces. The guests and residents will also have access to over 60 retail boutiques and various food and beverage outlets in Bahrain Harbour.
Mariette, a French national, brings a wealth of experience from his 18-year tenure with Kempinski Hotels. He has worked in multiple locations across the globe, and his achievements include improving operational profits and fostering a multicultural working environment. “His commitment to excellence enhances the guest experience and fosters strong industry relationships,” says Xavier Destribats, Chief Operating Officer EMEA & the Americas.
Mariette began his journey with Kempinski in Bulgaria in 2007 and has since held significant roles in Africa, China, the Middle East, Singapore, and Egypt. In 2021, he returned to Jordan in the dual role of Cluster General Manager and Area General Manager for The Levant and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Among his accolades, Mariette was named General Manager of the Year Jordan in the 2024 Hotelier Middle East Awards and Best General Manager in the Luxury Category in the 2013 Worldwide Hospitality Awards. He holds an MBA in International Hospitality Management from the International Hospitality Management Institute in Paris and a Bachelor’s and a Master’s Degree in International Hospitality Management from the University of Toulouse II.
