Actor Wayne Knight is opening up about his life-changing weight loss.

After revealing that he has shed over 100 pounds over the last several years, the Seinfeld actor got candid about the unexpected effect his weight loss transformation had on his career.

Known for playing Newman in the popular ’90s sitcom and starring in 1993’s Jurassic Park, Knight was spotted in Los Angeles on Tuesday, Nov. 19, where he was asked by reporters about his change in appearance over the last few decades.

As seen in a video of the impromptu interview with TMZ at LAX, Knight looked noticeably different from his earlier years on screen. He said he did “everything that anyone could every try” in order to lose weight, and was eventually successful after “many, many years.”

But when discussing how his weight loss has affected his career in Hollywood, Knight said the impact has mostly been “in a bad way.”

“It takes time for people to accept you as you are and then they find out whether or not you can still do things without being fat,” Knight explained, insinuating that it became harder for him to land acting gigs that weren’t roles centered around a token plus-size character.

“It’s just what it is,” he said, appearing to be okay with how things have shaken out in his career. “You just have to accept the fact that you can’t sell something that you’re not.”

Following his big roles in the ’90s, Knight has continued to work in the industry on a variety of projects, including several voice acting roles and appearances on Narcos, The Young and the Restless, Them, That ’90s Show and more.

Knight ended the conversation on a cheerful note, playfully adding, “Give an old skinny guy a shot,” with a smile on his face.
