Series by Marriott Launches First Japanese Hotel with Sugata Osaka Shinsaibashi

Series by Marriott has announced the opening of the 256-room Sugata Hotel Osaka Shinsaibashi in Osaka’s Shinsaibashi district, marking the brand’s debut in Japan.

Series by Marriott has opened the Sugata Hotel Osaka Shinsaibashi, a 256-room property in Osaka’s Shinsaibashi district. The hotel is within walking distance of Shinsaibashi-suji Shopping Street, Amerikamura, and the Dotonbori entertainment area. Hozenji Temple, Kuromon Ichiba Market, Namba Yasaka Shrine, and the wider Namba area are all within a two-kilometer radius. The hotel is 300 meters from Shinsaibashi Station on the Midosuji Subway Line, with Osaka Itami International Airport 15 kilometers away and Kansai International Airport 48 kilometers away.

Guestrooms are designed to reflect Osaka’s culture and provide contemporary comfort. Public areas are intended to foster connections among guests and encourage engagement with the destination. The property features Ampere Coffee & Kitchen, offering all-day dining, a breakfast buffet, and a menu that includes locally inspired dishes and international options.

The hotel’s design is based on the Japanese concept of ‘sugata,’ which refers to how something appears or manifests, including its presence and atmosphere. Interiors use natural materials, muted tones, and refined textures. Art panels inspired by the ginkgo-lined Midosuji boulevard and sculptural pieces reflecting the Sugata theme are present throughout the property.

The opening marks the introduction of the Series by Marriott brand in Japan. Series by Marriott is a collection of brands that brings together independent hotels and locally recognized hotel groups. The brand previously debuted globally in India.
