Shanghai’s historic Peace Hotel is set to be rebranded as the Raffles Peace Hotel Shanghai, with renovations completing in 2027.

Accor and Jinjiang International Group have disclosed plans to transform the iconic Peace Hotel in Shanghai into the Raffles Peace Hotel Shanghai, slated for completion in 2027. The hotel, originally built in 1929 and known as the Cathay Hotel, has been under the ownership of Jinjiang Group since 1984 and joined the Fairmont Hotels & Resorts portfolio in 2010.

The Peace Hotel’s renovation will proceed while it remains operational. The rebranded Raffles Peace Hotel Shanghai is expected to enhance the property’s prestige by aligning it with its portfolio of high-end hospitality destinations.

Located in a key commercial area of Shanghai, the hotel’s transformation is part of a broader strategy to leverage the city’s growing status as a global tourism and business hub. The project aims to attract international visitors by offering a blend of historical significance and contemporary luxury.

The Raffles brand, part of Accor’s portfolio, is noted for its high-end properties in major world cities and vacation destinations. This rebranding initiative is intended to expand Raffles’ presence in China, where it already operates hotels in locations such as Macau, Shenzhen, and Hainan.

The Peace Hotel’s redesign will focus on maintaining the architectural and cultural elements that characterize the original structure while updating the interiors to meet the expectations of luxury travelers. The hotel will feature enhanced guest services, fine dining options, and modern accommodations.
