SheBelieves Cup: Japan snaps skid with 3-0 win over Canada

Frisco, Texas –
Japan ended their fourth consecutive loss in Wednesday’s SheBelieves Cup with a 3-0 victory over Canada.
Japan had not scored in four straight games, including two for SheBelieves, until Kiko Seike scored in the 26th minute to put her team ahead. Canada’s starting goalkeeper Sabrina D’Angelo was injured during play and was replaced by regular Canadian starter Kylen Sheridan.
Jun Endo scored in the 77th minute as Yui Hasegawa added a goal with a penalty kick before half-time as Japan and Canada closed out the final match of the round-robin tournament.
Canadian players re-worn purple t-shirts that read “enough is enough” for the national anthem during a labor dispute with the federation, and purple wristbands during games.
The United States was scheduled to face Brazil on Wednesday night in a second half game. All four of her teams playing in the SheBelieves Cup have qualified for this summer’s Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
