Six Senses has opened its first property in the UK at The Whiteley mixed-use development in London
Six Senses, part of IHG Hotels & Resorts’ Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio, has launched its first UK property at The Whiteley on Queensway in London. The opening marks the brand’s entry into the UK market and follows previous urban openings in Rome and Kyoto. The property occupies a quarter of The Whiteley mixed-use development, located near Hyde Park and Notting Hill.
The hotel features 109 bedrooms and suites, many with private terraces, and 14 branded residences. The design incorporates elements intended to harmonise with the building’s Art Deco heritage. Green roofs and seasonal perennial planting have been included to support biodiversity and attract pollinators.
Dining options at the property include Whiteley’s Kitchen, Bar and Café. The hotel’s spa is a 2,300-square-metre wellness facility and includes London’s first hotel magnesium pool, a 20-metre indoor swimming pool, cryotherapy, flotation and recovery spaces, a longevity clinic, an Alchemy Bar, a Fitness Centre, and a Biohack Recovery Lounge.
Six Senses London also introduces the first Six Senses Place, a private members concept. The property was designed by AvroKO in collaboration with EPR Architects.
General Manager Nick Yarnell leads the property, following previous roles as General Manager for Six Senses Douro Valley and Regional General Manager for all European properties.
The opening of Six Senses London is the result of a collaboration among IHG, CC Land Holdings Ltd., Valouran, and Gruppo Statuto. The Whiteley, formerly London’s first department store, has been redeveloped as a mixed-use site with residences, retail, and amenities.
Since IHG acquired the Six Senses brand in 2019, there are now 27 Six Senses properties open across 20 countries. Additional openings are planned in Portugal, Japan, and Bangkok in 2024 and 2025.
