Today marks the official opening of Bathurst Quay Common, Toronto’s latest waterfront park, offering residents and visitors a fresh and lively green space along the harbour. This much-anticipated park, located at 3 Eireann Quay, is part of the city’s broader effort to revitalize the Bathurst Quay neighbourhood. With its grand opening, which is slated for 5:30 p.m. Oct. 4, Bathurst Quay Common promises to become a vibrant new hub for the community, combining scenic views with space for leisure and events.

Bathurst Quay Common breathes new life to an disused section of Toronto’s waterfront

The park, covering approximately an acre and features seating areas surrounded by lush landscaping, a waterfront promenade, and a multi-purpose plaza designed to host special events and cultural activities. One of its most striking features is the integration of the historic Canada Malting silos, which will be illuminated by architectural accent lighting at night, providing a dramatic backdrop to the city’s iconic skyline.

Construction of the park began on June 21, 2023, with the goal of transforming what was once an underutilized space into a bustling and dynamic destination for locals and tourists alike. The park is also designed to serve as a welcoming gateway for those arriving at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, offering them their first taste of the city’s waterfront charm.

The park’s central plaza is already set to host cultural programming and live performances, giving the space a flexible use that caters to both relaxation and recreation. The restored Canada Malting silos, a historical landmark, are now a key visual feature of the park, paying homage to Toronto’s industrial past while embracing its future as a dynamic urban centre.

Work is ongoing in preparation for the opening of Bathurst Quay Common
