Some Silk and Great Value brand plant-based beverages are being recalled in Canada because of possible listeria contamination, so you’ll want to go and check your fridge.

The plant-based milk alternatives were recalled by The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and stores have been directed to not sell or distribute the recalled products.

18 products total have been recalled, from the Great Value and Silk brands, “due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.”

If you have one of these products then you should not consume or serve it. CFIA said that recalled products “should be thrown out or returned to the location where they were purchased.”

If you think that you are sick from consuming one of the recalled products then you should contact a healthcare provider. The CFIA recall also noted that food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes might not have a spoiled smell or look to it, but you can still get sick. Symptoms of Listeria monocytogenes food contamination “can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness,” CFIA says.

“Pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk. Although infected pregnant women may experience only mild, flu-like symptoms, the infection can lead to premature delivery, infection of the newborn or even stillbirth. In severe cases of illness, people may die.”
