Taking to Instagram to share proof with a screenshot, O’Connell directly addressed his former co-star for only now deciding to follow him on Instagram, despite knowing each other since the ’80s.

In his playful Instagram post on Sunday, Jan. 25, O’Connell wrote, “Corey, we were in Stand By Me together (he was Teddy, I was Vern), I came to your CD opening party @officialtowerrecords and we shared a trailer during filming. HOW ARE YOU JUST FOLLOWING ME NOW???”

The two actors were both child stars in 1986’s Stand By Me, directed by the late Rob Reiner. The film also famously starred Wil Wheaton, who played Gordie, and late actor River Phoenix as Chris.

Feldman, 54, replied to O’Connell’s message in the comments on the post, writing, “I’m sorry bro…..i get a lot of requests from fake Jerrys….im glad I finally got the real U!”

“Now we can B IG official! 😍❤️” he quipped, while adding in the Stand By Me reference, “Skin it man!”

But calling out Feldman wasn’t the only purpose behind O’Connell’s post on Sunday, as he also used the opportunity to let fans know that their Stand By Me live tour is back with 6 brand-new dates

Each event—scheduled to take place in various cities across the U.S. throughout March—features a screening of the beloved ’80s film followed by an in-person conversation with O’Connell, Feldman and Wheaton. Tickets for Stand By Me Live are on sale now.
