Actor Harrison Ford, 83, is being honored in a major way.

Variety reported that Ford is receiving the 2026 SAG-AFTRA Life Achievement Award. Ford’s fans will be able to watch him be honored with the award during the 32nd Annual Actor Awards on March 1, 2026.

The publication reported that Ford released a statement about the SAG-AFTRA Life Achievement Award.

“I am deeply honored to be chosen as this year’s recipient of the SAG-AFTRA Life Achievement Award. To be acknowledged by my fellow actors means a great deal to me. I’ve spent most of my life on film sets, working alongside incredible actors and crews, and I’ve always felt grateful to be part of this community,” stated Ford, per Variety.

Harrison Ford Said He Didn’t Intend to Be an Actor

Ford has starred in iconic films, such as 1977’s Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope, 1981’s Raiders of the Lost Ark, and 1982’s Blade Runner, per IMDb. Currently, he plays Dr. Paul Rhoades on the hit Apple TV comedy, Shrinking. The actor received an Emmy Nomination in 2025 for his portrayal of the therapist, per Variety.

Despite his long-lasting career in the entertainment industry, Ford said he didn’t intend to be an actor in an August 2025 interview on Wild Card with Rachel Martin. He said that he “discovered acting very late in [his] college career” while he was studying at Ripon College. He explained that he decided to take a drama class to help boost his GPA.

In addition, he said that he still likes working as an actor. He said that he enjoys collaborating with other creators in the entertainment industry.

“I like to work and and I’m kind of up pain in the a-s when I’m not working,” explained Ford during the interview.

He also said that while he didn’t have ambitions to become famous, he does enjoy the perks.

“People are nice to me. Because of the work that they’ve seen me do,” said Ford.
