Starbucks will soon have fewer food and beverage items on its menu as it plans to simplify its offerings in Canada.

Now might be the time to enjoy your favourite drinks and snacks before they disappear, as the chain plans to streamline its menu by removing some items.

CEO Brian Niccol announced these changes during an earnings call on January 28, stating that the company has been focused on “simplifying” its menu.

“In the coming months, you’ll see us begin to optimize our menu offerings, resulting in a roughly 30 per cent reduction in both beverages and food,” he said, adding that the changes will be made by the end of fiscal year 2025.

Niccol said the company is changing its strategy to address underlying issues and restore brand confidence. He also said they’ve seen customers “kind of bailing” due to long wait times. By reducing options, he said they hope to address these “bottleneck situations.”

“Over the past four months, we’ve been focused on getting Back to Starbucks and those things that have always set us apart, a welcoming coffeehouse where people gather and where we serve the finest coffee handcrafted by our skilled baristas,” he said.

In an email statement, a Starbucks Canada representative stated that the company will share more details about which food and beverage items will be eliminated in the future.

“By streamlining our beverage and food offering, we can focus on ensuring availability and quality for the products our customers value most while also simplifying our operations and improving efficiency,” they said.
