Stephen Nedoroscik and his partner Rylee Arnold danced a paso doble to “Superman—Main Theme” for Oscars Night on Dancing with the Stars last night, cashing in on the Clark Kent meme that went viral during the 2024 Paris Olympics.

“We wanted to play to Stephen’s meme of being called Clark Kent,” Rylee tells Parade when asked if it was their choice to dance to “Superman” or if it was assigned to them by the show’s producers.

As the dance number began, Stephen entered dressed in a Clark Kent-type suit with his signature glasses, then in puff of smoke—no phone booth here—he transformed into Superman, dressed in a glittering red, white and blue sequin sleeveless vest and pants, which displayed his muscles, which he then kissed, showing his sense of humor, as well.

To complete the transition, Stephen tossed aside his glasses and began the paso doble.

“The glasses I am throwing are props, but I do have spare backup glasses that are old ones so if we ever lose the props, I have backup ready,” Stephen tells Parade. This is the second week he has tossed his glasses aside to take to the DWTS ballroom floor, so that is a consideration.

Stephen’s “Superman” number was his second dance of the season and he appeared calmer and more self-assured.

“Dancing itself is something I am more comfortable with,” he says. “I love the energy here. I wasn’t too nervous. More than anything, I was excited to go out and perform today. Same thing for next week, I can’t wait to get out there.”

Next week Stephen and Rylee will be dancing to the Soul Train-themed night and as Stephen said, they’re looking forward, not to mention, Rylee has a few tricks up her sleeve.

“He has so much strength,” Rylee says of her Silver Olympic Medalist partner. “I just want to play into things he can do. He’s not like every male dancer out there. He has so much flexibility and skills I want to play to, but also his athleticism and willingness to work real hard has really helped us.”

Dancing with the Stars airs live from the ballroom on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC and simulcast on Disney+ and then next day on Hulu.
