Summer Game Fest kicked off on Friday with a two-hour extravaganza full of game announcements and world premiere trailers. Hosts Geoff Keighley and Lucy James brought out tons of game updates, new reveals, and a few surprises, giving gaming fans flashbacks to the salad days of E3. There were some expected showings and plenty of big reveals, including the return of a highly anticipated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game, a new Resident Evil remake, a new Cuphead game, and more. The big show-ending news was Square Enix’s full reveal of Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, which is coming surprisingly soon.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 — Revelation
The third and final entry in Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 7 remake project is Final Fantasy 7 Revelation. A new trailer reveals what to expect from the third chapter and the ultimate showdown between Cloud Strife and friends, and Sephiroth. Unlike previous entries, FF7 Revelation will be released simultaneously on all platforms. And maybe sooner than you think: Revelation arrives in spring 2027.
Capcom is bringing Resident Evil: Code Veronica back in a reimagined experience, now titled Resident Evil Veronica. The first trailer shows Resident Evil heroine Claire Redfield, who will be back in 2027, when Resident Evil Veronica arrives on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.
New Cuphead game alert!
Studio MDHR is currently hard at work on a new Cuphead game, Mighty Cuphead Adventure, though most of the news was delivered in puppet form, much to the delight of host Geoff Keighley. The developer calls the game “very different” and “a project that pays homage to the era that made us fall in love with video games.”
Alien Isolation 2 revealed
Creative Assembly and Sega revealed a first look at the long-awaited sequel toAlien Isolation, showing a very different environment — Kurasaki Station — where players will fight to survive inAlien Isolation 2. The game is coming to PS5, Switch 2, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.
Fumito Ueda’s Project Robot is now Gen Atlas
The first game from Ico and Shadow of the Colossus creator Fumito Ueda in more than a decade has been fully revealed: gen Atlas is the debut title from GenDesign, and it’s coming to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X.

Sega’s Stranger Than Heaven (feat. Tupac and Snoop Dogg)
Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio’s big open-world game got a new trailer that revealed some surprising guest stars, including Snoop Dogg and Tupac Shakur. Weird? Yes. Tasteful? Not really! Stranger Than Heaven arrives on Jan. 15, 2027.
Blood Message story time
NetEase’s bloody action game Blood Message got a new look at Summer Game Fest, and it looks good as hell in a new story trailer.
Haex announced
From Dead Astronauts comes an open-world survival shooter for 1-4 players in Haex, coming in 2027 to PC. Says the developer, “An anomaly has been detected in the sub-arctic north. The science team sent to investigate has gone missing. Survive an alien-scarred wilderness solo or with up to 3 friends. Push back the mist, reshape the world, craft weapons and gear, and fight to unearth what happened.”
TMNT: The Last Ronin re-revealed
The long-awaited video game adaptation of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin is back — and now in the hands of legendary action game developer PlatinumGames.

Gundam Rogue Orbit announced
Bandai Namco’s next Gundam game has been revealed — and it sure looks a lot like Armored Core (complimentary). Gundam Rogue Orbit is coming to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X in 2027.
Monster Hunter Wilds is going up, up, up with Ascendance expansion
Capcom will release a “massive expansion” for Monster Hunter Wilds in 2027, the company announced with a new trailer at Summer Game Fest. Soar into a land above, wield new abilities, and hunt legendary monsters in Master Rank, Capcom promises, and that includes Elder Dragons.
Crossfire is back in a wildly different form
Taylor Kurosaki and Jacob Minkoff’s studio That’s No Moon is making a single-player Crossfire game — yes, that Crossfire, the Korean multiplayer shooter from Smilegate.
Guild Wars 3 announced
Arenanet’s massively multiplayer online game Guild Wars is getting another entry: Guild Wars 3 is “the next evolution of the MMORPG,” it’s creators say. You’ll be able to test that claim when Guild Wars 3‘s beta launches in fall 2027. Guild Wars 3 is in development for PC and PS5.
Meet me at the Virtua Fighter Crossroads
Sega’s next Virtua Fighter game, heretofore colloquially known as Virtua Fighter 6, is coming in 2027. It’s now officially titled Virtua Fighter Crossroads, and it looks fantastic — and very much in the style of Like A Dragon/Yakuza developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio.
Street Fighter 6 welcomes Tifa, Arjun, Bosch, and Yasmine in Year 4
Capcom revealed the four fighters coming in Year 4 of Street Fighter 6, and the rumors were true: Tifa from Final Fantasy 7 is joining the SF6 roster. She’ll arrive with some Street FIghter newcomers, including Arjun, Bosch, and Yasmine. Up first is Yasmine, who arrives on Aug. 3, followed by Arjun (fall), Tifa (early 2027), and Bosch (spring 2027).
Stellar Blade: Blood Rain announced
Shift Up is back with another Stellar Blade… that’s not Stellar Blade 2? Stellar Blade: Blood Rain is the “next chapter” in the action-adventure franchise and will “continue the story beyond the events of the first game and introduce a new protagonist, Evie.” More to come, apparently…
The Wolf Among Us 2 comes out of hiding after 84 years
Telltale Games’ long-awaited sequel to The Wolf Among Us is finally coming. The Wolf Among Us 2 is back, and will be preceded by a remaster of the first The Wolf Among Us.
Attack on Titan 3 announced
Attack on Titan 3 will serve as the culmination of the action game series, depicting the story of Attack on Titan from its Survey Corps beginnings to its dramatic conclusion. Attack on Titan 3 is bound for PC, PS5, Switch 2, and Xbox Series X, with a release date still to be announced.
