A Texas native, Hurts credits his success to the example set by his father, Averion Hurts, who coached him during his time at Channelview High School.

Hurts is a strong advocate for women in sports and has chosen to surround himself with an all-female team for his representation.

The 26-year-old is engaged to longtime partner, Bryonna “Bry” Burrows, Essence reported in September 2024. The couple met while they were both studying at the University of Alabama.
