Krypto Saves the Day! - Short Film

Image: Warner Bros. Animation/DC Studios

The Kryptonian pooch Krypto causes all manner of havoc in James Gunn’s Superman, tearing up the Fortress of Solitude and chomping on Lex Luthor’s drones like chew toys. Now he has a starring role in a series of four animated shorts that will be included as a special feature with home editions of the film, which is coming to digital on Aug. 15 and will have a physical release on Sept. 23.

The first episode of Krypto Saves the Day!, “School Bus Scuffle,” is available to stream now on YouTube. The silent 5-minute short follows Krypto as he bursts through Clark Kent’s apartment wall to chase a pigeon throughout Metropolis, causing a series of problems for a very fast-thinking school bus driver. The pup shows off the full range of his powers, from heat vision to cold breath, but the bird still comes out ahead.

The rest of the goofy, kid-friendly adventures will be released on YouTube individually through 2026. Krypto will deal with a candy crisis in “Halloween Havoc,” help build a snowman in “Package Pandemonium” and save a spring break cruise ship in “Coastal Catastrophe.” He’ll also probably keep getting distracted scratching himself. Apparently Kryptonian dogs can still get fleas!
