It’s officially the end of an era for a long-standing sushi restaurant in The Annex, which officially closed its doors last month following 26 years in the neighbourhood.
New Generation Sushi, formerly located at 486 Bloor St. W., was known for serving up sushi combos, bento boxes, sashimi, udon, party platters, and other Japanese staples at an affordable price point.
The restaurant shut its doors without an official announcement on Jan. 31, over two decades after it first opened up in 1999. Loyal customers, who took to local Facebook pages to share the heartbreaking news, suggested the restaurant closed its doors due to the owner’s retirement.
The restaurant is visibly closed, with its furniture packed near the storefront. The restaurant has removed itself from food delivery apps and the order pickup form on its website also leads to a dead link.
