Returning from an incredible getaway is never easy, but one thing that will probably linger with you even more than the warmth of the sun and the joy of some time away from your emails is the taste of that really, really delicious thing that you ate.
Whether it’s some ceviche you sampled in Peru, some paella you tucked into in Spain or some poutine you gorged on in Canada, anyone who’s as adventurous with their palette as they are with their travel plans will remember a street food they once tried that was a little bit life-changing. But which are the most popular?
Remitly, a money-transfer platform, has used the number of TikTok posts as a reference point to determine which street foods in the world are the most popular, and tacos rolled their way into first place with a whopping 1.8 million.
Following in second place, though with less than half of that ridiculously impressive stat, are pani puri, those crispy little shells stuffed with spicy potato and chopped onion that originate from India, a snack that garnered 734,200 social media posts.
In third place, it’s the humble American hot dog, which has 653,700 posts attached to it. Hungry? Us, too – read on for more.
