A person who appears to be in possession of a copy of Taylor Swift’s birth announcement and some of her baby photos is dividing fans after suggesting that they might sell the materials.

The person posted several photos showing the items they recently found in a private Facebook group called The Eras Tour Swifties. A screenshot of the post was later shared on X, formerly Twitter.

According to the original post, the person’s grandmother worked for Swift’s father, Scott, years ago when the Swift family lived in Pennsylvania. After the Facebook user’s grandmother passed away, “we found Taylor’s birth announcement in her desk in the original envelope.”

The Facebook post included a photo of the addressed envelope, an image of a birth announcement for “Taylor Alison Swift,” and a couple of photos showing what appeared to be the “Cruel Summer” songstress surrounded by stuffed animals as a baby.

“Is anyone interested in buying this?” the Facebook user asked the group.

The social media user who shared a screenshot of the post on X wondered, “why is this person selling this instead of trying to get it to taylor, her team or andrea??? this is just odd….” Their opinion of the situation was widely echoed by other Swifties who weighed in on the situation.

It is “really sad that taylor’s name is like a giant dollar sign nowadays. people have no common decency anymore,” one X user wrote.

Another person added, “i also feel like it’s just weird to try and sell off a picture of a baby.”

Seeing the post “just gave me the ick, bc wdym u have these and wouldnt wanna give them to her parents???” one X user tweeted as another said, “if anything i’d keep it instead of trying to sell it?”

Some people suggested they would be willing to purchase the birth announcement and photos so that they could send them to Swift’s family. But others didn’t see a problem with the idea of selling the materials.

“It’s just a birth announcement. I’m sure they have copies of it they kept,” one person wrote.

“Someone will definitely pay them for this,” another person declared. “Why would they give it away? Taylor doesn’t sing for free. I would definitely put it up for auction.”

“I’ll buy it,” an X user volunteered.
