Brianna “Chickenfry” LaPaglia is trying to move into her “Swiftie” era, but some Taylor Swift fans aren’t sure how to feel about it.

This week, the internet personality revealed in a TikTok post that she is going to the final Eras Tour concert in Vancouver next month, and she also shared multiple videos of herself watching clips of Swift performing and getting caught up on the pop star’s discography.

But some fans were raising their eyebrows at LaPaglia’s sudden interest in becoming a hardcore fan of Swift, 34, especially after she previously expressed her distaste for the Swiftie fandom.

In a video fans have now recirculated on X (formerly Twitter), LaPaglia could be heard telling her BFFs podcast co-host Dave Portnoy that “Swifties are so annoying” in a previous episode from earlier this year.

When Portnoy, who identifies as a fan of the “Anti-Hero” songstress, fired back, “that’s not the way to win us over,” LaPaglia replied, “I don’t wanna be a Swiftie.”

Many of Swift’s fans were skeptical that LaPaglia’s newfound support for the singer has more to do with “clout” and “clickbait” rather than genuine interest, and some even claimed she didn’t “deserve” closing night tickets because of her past comments.

However, tons of Swifties came to LaPaglia’s defense, arguing that it’s okay for someone to change their mind about an artist.

Others also insisted that LaPaglia deserved a “little grace” for her previous statements, which were made while she was still dating country singer Zach Bryan, who she has since accused of being emotionally abusive throughout their relationship.

“She’s going through a break up from a toxic abusive man; and has used Taylor songs/lyrics to heal,” one user wrote in LaPagalia’s defense. “Lots of people don’t get the lore until they go through something and realize her lyrics are relatable and cathartic – I’d give her grace on this.”

“I truly believe she needs our community right now and we should support her,” someone else echoed.

Another user said, “I’ve been watching her videos where she’s listening to tay’s songs for the first time and I’m actually pretty excited for her!! she’s evolving lol.”

“She is in the beginning of being a swiftie, after a traumatizing relationship,” someone else noted. “what an amazing time to go to feel that love!!!”
