Actor Joe Alwyn dated pop superstar Taylor Swift for six and a half years, and though they’ve since broken up and she has moved on with Super Bowl winner Travis Kelce, his relationship with the “Lover” singer is still a topic of conversation for her fans.
Swifties, who are known for analyzing the minuscule details in everything from Swift’s clothing choices to her song lyrics, often draw comparisons online between her relationships with Alwyn and Kelce. But for Alwyn, that’s all in the past.

In a wide-ranging conversation with The Guardian, Alwyn spoke about moving on from that part of his life. “That’s something for other people to do,” he told the outlet. “We’re talking about something that’s a while ago now in my life. So that’s for other people. That’s what I feel.”
When asked if he felt that his career would be overshadowed by his relationship with Swift, he said “I have tried just to focus on controlling what I can control.” He continued, noting that he has “tried to focus on the things that are meaningful for me: friends, family, work, of course.”
Alwyn said he thinks he’s “done what lots of people who find themselves in the public eye do, which is just try and ignore it. If you don’t, and if you let all of that other stuff in, and if it starts to affect you and your behavior, you’re living from the outside in.”
The actor is currently promoting The Brutalist, an Adrian Brody-led epic that is already generating Oscar buzz, and has several other big projects on the horizon, including the Chloé Zhao adaptation of Maggie O’Farrell’s Hamnet and playing Laertes in Hamlet opposite Riz Ahmed. “I feel great, I feel lucky to be in a good place,” he shared.
