'Ted Lasso' is Back! Check out the Latest Trailer and Images from the New Season Ahead of Wednesday's Premiere

Ted Lasso famously once said, “It’s the lack of hope that comes and gets you. Believe.” And it’s a good thing TedHeads listened to that advice—because even though the story seemingly ended with Season 3, Ted Lasso is officially coming back for a fourth season!

Apple TV renewed the series for Season 4 in March 2025. When Ted Lasso first premiered in August 2020, it felt like a warm hug during a time of turmoil. Between the COVID-19 lockdown and a divisive political climate, Ted’s radical kindness and perpetual optimism weren’t just entertaining—they were essential.

After the Season 3 finale, we still had so many questions. Would Ted (Jason Sudeikis) stay in Kansas? Could the show go on without the mustache? Was the “Lasso Way” truly retired for good? In time, every question will be answered—because not only is the beloved coach returning to the field, he’s also bringing most of the gang with him.

When is the Ted Lasso Season 4 release date?

Ted Lasso fans will get a nice midsummer treat when Season 4 begins streaming on Wednesday, Aug. 5.

There are 10 episodes in Season 4 of Ted Lasso. The episode titles we know so far are:

Is there a trailer for Season 4 of Ted Lasso?

The streamer dropped the official trailer on July 28 in anticipation of the upcoming premiere date. Check it out below.

Apple TV dropped a first look at Season 4 on March 6. The 19-second clip shows Coach Beard reading a book titled SoccerWomen. Alongside the post, the streamer wrote: “Same Beard. New book.”

The first official trailer, however, premiered on Apr. 28, giving brief glimpses of what all of the beloved characters have been up to between teams.

What will happen in Season 4 of Ted Lasso?

Ted returns to Richmond, taking on his biggest challenge yet: coaching a second-division women’s football team. Throughout the course of the season, Ted and the team learn to leap before they look, taking chances they never thought they would.

It’s important to note that because the new season centers around a women’s team, the original AFC Richmond squad—including Phil Dunster (Jamie Tartt), Toheeb Jimoh (Sam Obisanya), and Cristo Fernández (Dani Rojas)—are not currently named as series regulars. However, our fingers will remain crossed for a few special appearances at The Dog Track!

Another update is that the role of Ted’s son, Henry, has been recast. Gus Turner will not return for Season 4 and Henry will be played by Grant Feely—pictured below—possibly to age him up for a new storyline.

What is Ted Lasso about?

If you’re new to the pitch, welcome to the team! The series follows Ted Lasso (Sudeikis), a Division II college football coach from Kansas who is unexpectedly hired to manage a professional British soccer team.

Despite having zero experience or soccer know-how—and a fanbase that initially rejects him—Ted ultimately wins everyone over. “It’s as much about soccer as Rocky is about boxing,” Sudeikis has said of the show’s focus on heart, humor, and human connection.

How did Season 3 of Ted Lasso end?

The third seasonended with Ted moving back to America to be with his son Henry, while Coach Beard decided to stay behind in the UK and got married to Jane at Stonehenge. Rebecca had told Ted that if he left, she would also go and sell the club. However, in the end, Rebecca sold 49 percent of the club to fans. Roy became the new manager of AFC Richmond with Coach Beard and Nate working for the team, too. The Season 3 finale also teased the possible plot of Season 4, with Keeley showing Rebecca a binder for an AFC Richmond women’s team, eliciting smiles and cheers from them both.
