Telus says it’s investigating claims employee information was posted on ‘dark web’
Telus says it is investigating recent allegations that some employee information and company source code were posted on the “dark web” as part of a data breach.
Richard Gilhooley, director of public relations at Telus, confirmed the investigation in a statement to Global News on Friday afternoon.
“We are investigating allegations that small amounts of data related to TELUS’ internal source code and the information of some TELUS team members have appeared on the dark web,” he said.
Gilhooly said the Vancouver-based telecommunications company launched an investigation “once it became aware of the incident,” but has yet to respond to Global News’ inquiries about when it learned of the possible breach. .
He added that until this point in the investigation, the company “has not identified any corporate or retail customer data as being involved in the incident.”
