Last week on The Amazing Race 37, Han and Holden received arguably the biggest surprise on a “season of surprises,” as they were spared from elimination. And so “La Cucaracha” stayed to bug the other teams as everyone continued onto the next leg in France. It was an up-and-down day full of Head-to-Head showdowns, navigational woes and lots of tensions within the teams. For one duo, however, much like a pile of laundry along a canal, their race was completely washed.

Brett Hamby and Mark Romain – Married Vegas performers

In the first few legs of the season, Brett and Mark lamented their position. While the married couple never truly came close to being eliminated, they knew they were more of a skilled team than their placements indicated. Indeed, soon the Vegas performers got the opportunity to step into the spotlight, and they absolutely shone. For the last five weeks, they took home two first-place finishes, and never placed below fourth. But momentum can stop at any time on The Amazing Race, and Brett and Mark’s graceful movements stopped abruptly in France. They got lost as soon as the leg began, putting them in last place for the first time in a while. The two didn’t give up though, and made up a ton of time going into the Detour, where they arrived in second. But attention to detail had them falling once more, especially when they chose to follow Alyssa and Josiah, then proceeded to get lost. That ended up being the straw that broke their proverbial stork’s nest, taking out one of the frontrunning teams to take it all.

Which teams finished at the top of The Amazing Race 37 Week 9 tonight?

After spending the past few weeks in the back of the pack, Carson McCalley and Jack Dodge were able to finally cement their status as one of the most dominant teams of the season. Despite losing their first Head-to-Head matchup, their navigational skills had them surging out to the lead, getting their third first-place finish of the season. Behind them were a shocked Alyssa and Josiah Borden. The married couple struggled during the cheese tasting task, deciding to use the Express Pass they had earned two weeks ago. And the two believed they were the ones being eliminated right up until Phil Keoghan informed them of the contrary.

Which teams finished at the bottom of The Amazing Race 37 Week 9 tonight?

Despite being in the middle of the pack nearly the entire leg, Jonathan and Ana Towns had perhaps the most tension among them of any of the remaining teams. Throughout the day, Jonathan had become frustrated with his wife during a couple of tasks and getting directions, outright calling her a “terrible partner” at one point. Despite coming into the Detour in last place, they were able to make up a lot of time, finishing in third. The team they passed was Han and Holden Nguyen. After getting saved last leg, the siblings started off hot when they left the Head-to-Head in first place. But they soon got lapped by the other teams in both the cheese task and the Detour. As a result, they found themselves in a familiar position, fighting to avoid elimination.
