Tesla plans Shanghai factory: reports

Electric car maker Tesla plans to build a factory in Shanghai to produce energy storage devices for sale around the world, state media reported on Sunday.
It plans to produce 10,000 megapack units per year, according to Xinhua News Agency and state television. The company made the announcement at a signing ceremony in Shanghai, where Tesla operates a car factory, they said.
The factory is expected to break ground in the third quarter of this year and start production in the second quarter of 2024.
Tesla did not immediately respond to requests for information.
