Summer felt like it was five minutes ago, but it’s already time to wrap up warm, gorge yourself on cheese and chocolate, and get your present-buying in order. Why? Well, because Christmas is right around the corner!

And you know what that means – Christmas markets. Towns and cities across Europe pride themselves on their displays of cutesy wooden huts, twinkly lights, little snacks and crafty baubles, but what better way to determine the very best ones than by looking at their online reviews.

Iglu Cruise has evaluated the average ratings of 40 different Christmas markets across Europe and ranked them based on which had the highest proportion of five-star ratings on TripAdvisor, and the results are in!

Claiming the top spot is Esslingen, of which 72.2 percent of its reviews were five-star – impressive, right? The town is nestled about 16 km south of Stuttgart in southwestern Germany and actually features your classic festive market as well as a mediaeval one, so there’s plenty to browse if you’re headed here this year.

In second place, it’s Krakow, whose proportion of five-star reviews is 71.4 percent, and in third place it’s Cologne with 70.5 percent. In fact, Germany dominates this list, claiming five of the top 10 spots. No surprise there  you can find our very own list of Germany’s best Christmas markets right here. Frohe Weihnachten!
