Just when you thought we couldn’t possibly chuck another list of ‘where to go in 2025’ your way, yet another publication drops its roundup for the year ahead.

But that’s okay – we live and breathe travel over here, and this 52-strong roundup from the New York Times has certainly put some fresh inspo on the map.

It kicks off with Jane Austen’s England (specifically, the southwest), ‘a pastoral area that salutes a literary legend’ and which this year will be celebrating the 250th anniversary of this icon’s birth. You can pay her old house a visit in Hampshire, or dance the night away in proper regency style at one of the balls at the Jane Austen Centre in Bath. How very Bridgerton.

Elsewhere on the list is Nicaragua, the overlooked neighbour of Costa Rica which brags tropical jungles, picturesque colonial towns and sweeping stretches of white sand.

So, why visit now? Well, the Costanera highway (a huge transport project connecting 50 beaches along the emerald coast) is being inaugurated, making a beach-focused road trip through Nicaragua a whole lot easier.

But there’s plenty more where that came from – check out the full list below (after you’ve brushed up on our brilliant collection of the best new things to do in the world in 2025, obvs).
