Street food is one of the essential joys of summer.

After months spent hiding from the elements inside temperature-controlled restaurants, there’s nothing like sitting in the sunshine with barbecue from one of Austin’s most exciting food trucks, digging into a cream cheese-slathered Seattle-style hot dog outside the Mariners game, or cooling off with one of New Orleans’s quintessential sno-balls. Across the country, chefs are setting up stands and firing up sidewalk grills to serve street foods both classic and groundbreaking. There’s a lot to eat out there this summer.
