It’s only a few more weeks until Taylor Swift graces Toronto to perform at her sold-out Eras Tour concerts at the Rogers Centre. If you were lucky enough to nab tickets, you’re probably trying to figure out what to wear — thankfully, there are more than a few places you can shop at across the city to emulate Swift’s iconic Eras.

Shop Swift’s Speak Now era

Speak Now was released in 2010 when Swift opted for more romantic, almost fairy-tale-like pieces — think lavender gowns with floral embellishments and lots of layered tulle! Black Daffodil is an online clothing boutique that supports Canadian brands and offers the cutest selection of vintage-style dresses with princess-like silhouettes and dream-like vibes, making it the ideal place to shop to recreate Swift’s whimsical look. For more vintage and romantic aesthetics, check out I Miss You Vintage (63 Ossington Ave.) and Courage My Love for Speak Now-like accessories.

Shop Swift’s Folklore / Evermore era

To channel Swift’s 2020 Folklore and Evermore era, opt for a more indie aesthetic (similar to Swift’s infamous Alberta Ferretti green dress). Think boho chic, cozy, minimalist pieces and flowy silhouettes with wide sleeves, ruffles and tiered skirts — opt for ethereal maxi dresses, chantilly lace confections and floral prints. In addition to the retro stores we mentioned earlier, check out Mama Loves You, one of Toronto’s most popular vintage clothing stores. You’ll find tons of true vintage ’60s/’70s pieces that are very bohemian and fit this era (541 Queen St. W.).

Shop Swift’s Reputation era

The Reputation album era, which debuted in 2017, is denoted by edgy and sleek black and metallic pieces, leotards, high-waisted shorts and pants, rock-star-like leather jackets and tight tanks. Artizia has super cute vegan leather pieces and minis to browse through to complete your own Reputation outfit. For leather garb, check out Black Market Vintage and Black Market Underground for some vintage thrasher fashion.

Shop Swift’s Midnights era

Taylor Swift’s 2022 style is characterized by everything from embellished dresses and jeweled heels to form-fitting, black-sequinned cut-outs, halter necklines and bodysuits.  Zumel & Co (863 Queen St. W.) sells lots of sparkly outfits and tops that fit this era, like this sheer polyester mini with a sequined fringe, gold zipper and adjustable shoulder straps, and this black-sequined mini skirt. Pair your outfit with accessories from the chic Summerhill shop 1132 Consignment (1132 Yonge St.). The store is co-owned by celebrity stylist Zeina Esmail, who has previously dressed Swift, so you’ll find a lot of Swift faves.

Shop Swift’s Red era

Red came out in 2012 when Swift was just 23, and the album represented her transition from country to pop — and her outfits ate. Opt for solid, bold colors (like red dresses, skirts, accessories, etc.), layers (e.g. with cardigans), as well as a mix of vintage and preppy pieces, like polka dots, Peter Pan collars, high-waisted shorts and skirts and A-line dresses. Or pair a large graphic tee with with a fedora hat, short shorts and fishnet tights. Coal Miner’s Daughter (1360A Queen St. E. and other locations) is the perfect place for easygoing shapes as well as feminine dresses and accessories (so you can create a layered look). Also visit Common Sort (1414 Queen St. W., 760 Queen St. E, 444 Bloor St. W.) for consigned clothing at a super affordable price — this budget-friendly option will have plenty of cozy knits to choose from and is usually organised loosely by colour so you can find that perfect all-red piece.

Swift will perform from Nov. 14 to 16 and Nov. 21 to 23 at the Rogers Centre. If you couldn’t pick up tickets, then perhaps check out the Taylgate party prior to her performances — the North Building of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre will be transformed into Toronto’s Version: Taylgate ’24, which will run daily on those dates from 1 p.m. until 11 p.m. Or click here to see how Toronto businesses are preparing for their Taylor Swift moment (and how you can benefit from it)!
