While tourism is integral to economic stability for lots and lots of destinations, many have introduced tourist taxes to mitigate the consequences of their popularity, be that to finance new infrastructure or try and deter crowds.

But as a traveller, those fees have the potential to amount to quite a lot on top of your budget, so it’s good to have an idea of how much you’ll be charged in each destination. Handily, that’s why Holidu, a rental booking platform, has designed a tourist tax calculator

All you need to do to see how much tax you’ll pay is input your destination, select the correct currency for you, put in the cost of your rental accommodation per night and how many nights you’re staying, and voilà!

So, hypothetically, if we booked a trip to Barcelona for seven nights, and our accommodation cost £81 per night, our tourist tax total would be approximately £34.10.
