As Magic: The Gathering players flocked to Atlanta for MagicCon, their attention was split between the results of the last Pro Tour of 2025 and the latest announcements from Wizards of the Coast. After a couple of cards leaked in the previous days, it was pretty much a given that the new Lorwyn Eclipsed set would get an official preview, and so it was.
On Jan. 23, 2026, MTG will be going back to the plane of Lorwyn-Shadowmoor for the first time since it debuted in 2007 with the Lorwyn block, comprising the sets Lorwyn and Shadowmoor. Inspired by Celtic folklore and mythology, this plane has a strong fairytale vibe, and an abundance of creature tribes, including Elves, Goblins, Fairies, Giants, Kithkin, Merfolk, Elementals, Shapeshifters, and Treefolk. Lorwyn was also the first set to feature Planeswalker cards, marking a monumental shift in MTG history.
Lorwyn Eclipsed will keep this focus on creature types, much to players’ delight, as tribal strategies are popular in every MTG format. We’re also getting a bunch of reprinted “shock lands” and a suite of transforming legendary Element creatures. Other highlights include Bitterbloom Bearer (a play on the popular card Bitter Blossom) and the changeling creature Mutable Explorer. The story of this new set will be tied to four students from Strixhaven Academy, who will be visiting Lorwyn on a study-abroad trip.

Lorwyn Eclipsed introduces several exciting new products and features. One of the major additions is the debut of 60-card, ready-to-play Theme Decks, designed for fun, thematic gameplay. The first two decks, Angels and Pirates, will launch with Lorwyn Eclipsed, followed by additional releases tied to Secrets of Strixhaven and Reality Fracture.
Another new product is Draft Night, designed to make hosting draft events easier. Each Draft Night box supports a four-player Pick-Two Draft and includes lands, tokens, and even a Collector Booster to give as a prize to the winner. Starting with Lorwyn Eclipsed, similar Draft Night products will accompany each major tabletop Magic set.
There is also something for fans of Dungeons & Dragons: Lorwyn: First Light is a setting supplement exclusive to D&D Beyond, launching on Nov. 18. This release allows players to craft characters and campaigns within the twilight-themed world of Lorwyn.
Lorwyn Eclipsed doesn’t shy away from the collectible flair Magic players should be used to by now, with a wide range of Booster Fun treatments. Highlights include serialized borderless versions of Bitterbloom Bearer, illustrated by fan-favorite artist Rebecca Guay. These limited double rainbow foil cards are exclusive to Collector Boosters. The set also reintroduces borderless reversible shock lands, depicting both Lorwyn and Shadowmoor, available in both foil and non-foil. Additionally, fable frame cards add a fairy tale aesthetic, with 10 uncommon, 26 rare, and 14 mythic rare entries across booster packs.
Lorwyn Eclipsed will be available in Play Boosters and Collector Boosters. Pricing is as follows:
- Play Booster: $5.49
- Collector Booster: $26.99*
- Commander Deck: $49.99*
- Bundle: $57.99
- Draft Night: $89.99

*The MSRPs for Collector Boosters (previously $24.99) and Commander decks (previously $44.99) have increased from previous Magic Multiverse sets. These will be the MSRPs for Magic Multiverse sets starting with Lorwyn Eclipsed and moving forward.
Prerelease events for Lorwyn Eclipsed will take place on Jan. 16-22, 2026. Arena release will happen on Jan. 20, 2026, and tabletop release will be on Jan. 23, 2026.
