The Omni Grove Park Inn & Spa, located in Asheville, is reopening its doors after the devastating impact of Hurricane Helene. The final phase of the recovery includes reopening the Sammons Wing for overnight stays beginning December 2. The resort is ready to usher in the holiday season with decorative light displays, Christmas trees, and seasonal treats. It has also started accepting dining reservations for the Christmas period for both overnight and day visitors.

As part of the reopening event, the resort hosted over 40 participants nationwide in the National Gingerbread House Competition. Now rebranded as the ‘Gingerbread Trail of Giving’, this event has taken on a new role in the resort’s recovery efforts. Currently, 13 gingerbread houses are displayed at The Omni Grove Park Inn & Spa, and 28 others at businesses throughout the local community.

Isabel Miller, Director of Marketing and Communications at The Omni Grove Park Inn, expressed gratitude and excitement for the community support that helped the recovery process. She mentioned how rewarding it was to see individuals from all over the country contribute to rebuilding their community.

The 32nd Annual National Gingerbread House Competition has been revamped to allow locals and visitors to enjoy the gingerbread displays while contributing to the local Asheville community. Competitors from all areas showed their support for Asheville through their participation in the competition. One competitor, Jessica Frost, even shipped her entry from El Paso, Texas, to join the event.

Two competitors, Julie Andreacola and Brenda Wheatcraft, decided to change their original plans and create new gingerbread houses as a tribute to the residents of Western North Carolina. The houses aim to provide hope and will be displayed from November 23 through January 5. A Gingerbread Trail of Giving map is available for those interested in viewing the entries.

The Omni Grove Park Inn has made several adjustments to its services since reopening. Potential guests can reach out via phone or visit the resort’s website for more information or reservation inquiries.

The resort’s recovery and reopening have been marked with community spirit and a festive atmosphere, promising a warm welcome for all visitors this holiday season.
