Ree Drummond is known for her skills in the kitchen, not on the athletic field. And that might be a good thing, given a recent video posted by the Pioneer Woman star, though fans agreed that there’s room for improvement.

The Food Network personality took to Instagram to let fans in on how her first pickleball game went, teasing that she had a “complete inability to understand the scoring.”

In a video posted on March 18, Drummond showed herself and her daughter, Alex Drummond Scott, playing against Alex’s husband, Mauricio Scott.

The trio volleyed back and forth, with Scott shouting words of encouragement even as Drummond griped that she “almost had that” after missing.

When Drummond Scott told her mom their current score, Drummond admitted she “didn’t understand that at all,” but as she detailed in the caption, even though “Mauricio creamed us in the first game,” she and her daughter “were able to eke out small victory in a 3-point game at the end.”

She then wrapped up the post by admitting that her husband isn’t a fan of pickleball and asked people to play with her in his stead.

Fans loved the video, jumping into the comments to say, “Your McEnroe moment was my favorite part. 😂 Can’t wait to play!” said one fan, referencing a moment when Drummond expressed her frustration, much like tennis player John McEnroe’s famous outbursts during high-pressure matches.

Other fans encouraged Drummond to keep at it, writing, “So great! Pickleball is such a fun game. The scoring is very confusing at first but you will get it!”

Commenters loved how supportive Drummond’s daughter was of her mom, sharing that their children do the same. “Love Alex encouraging her mom every hit. My kids do that too. It’s the best,” wrote one fan.
