The Ritz-Carlton has made its highly anticipated debut in Suzhou, a city renowned for its cultural and historical richness.

The Ritz-Carlton announced its debut in the historic city of Suzhou, situated in China’s Jiangsu province near Shanghai. This expansion marks a significant step in the brand’s commitment to extending luxury hospitality across Greater China. The new hotel in the city’s scenic Gusu District offers visitors an immersive cultural experience within the city’s rich history and dynamic charm.

Suzhou, often dubbed the “Venice of the East,” boasts a rich history spanning over a thousand years and is home to several UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including the ancient Grand Canal and the renowned Classical Gardens of Suzhou. The hotel’s prime location makes it a convenient base for both leisure and business travelers.

The hotel’s architecture sets it apart, combining modern techniques with traditional Suzhou elements. The exteriors, designed by KPF Architects, feature layered, blue-tiled roofs and folding fan screens, while the interiors, conceptualized by architect Peter Remedios, pay tribute to Suzhou’s silk trade history and the city’s iconic classical gardens. The hotel has 190 guest rooms and suites, including 57 luxurious suites, each reflecting a minimalist Suzhou aesthetic.
