Get ready, Toronto — the 2025 Toronto Marathon is taking place this Sunday, May 4, and it will shake up the city significantly. Whether you’re lacing up your runners or just trying to get across town, here’s what you need to know.

The event includes a full marathon, half marathon, 10 km, 5 km, and both 5 km and 10 km walk events — so expect thousands of participants on the move.

In a press release shared with Narcity on Thursday morning, Toronto police say they will allow TTC services through gaps when it is safe to do so, as they want to minimize disruption across the city. However, be prepared for possible delays.

Race Start Times:

  • 8 a.m. – half marathon walk, 10km run, 5km walk
  • 8:15 a.m. – 5km run
  • 8:30 a.m. – half marathon run

Roads across Toronto will be impacted, with closures beginning as early as 5:30 a.m. and lasting until 2:30 p.m. If you’re driving, plan your route now or expect major delays.
