13 May 20252 Mins Read

The Vancouver Public Library (VPL) is not just a great place to pick up a couple of reads, it’s a chance to connect with others, access community resources, attend an event or two, and even pick up a new skill or craft. There are currently 150 free classes and workshops listed on the library’s website, from Photoshop workshops to meditative drawing classes to a quantum physics course led by experts from UBC’s Department of Physics and Astronomy.

In addition to online and in-person educational courses, VPL offers library-goers a variety of career and immigration services, family-friendly activities, book clubs, and film screenings.

So, whether you want to prep for an interview or an English language exam, find a new job, or learn a new craft, the VPL has you covered.

Here are just some of the free classes & workshops you’ll find at the Vancouver Public Library:

For the kids, check out their family board game sessions, LEGO block parties, creative writing classes, and more.

Those who want to improve their adulting can also join a variety of personal finance classes, small business planning, and retirement planning. And of course, there is no shortage of programs for book lovers. VPL offers a variety of author talks and lectures, as well as book clubs where participants can discuss new literature.

Interested in one or a handful of classes? You’ll want to reserve your spot sooner rather than later, as classes may fill up.

You can search for classes based on your interests or by your nearest branch.
