Having a sweet tooth means that you’re always looking for new ways to satisfy your cravings, with TikTok offering endless recipes for you to try. And social media’s latest sweet snack combines chocolate and strawberries in a clever new way: strawberry nachos.

No classic nacho ingredients (hi guacamole, cheese, and ground turkey) are used in this new snack creation. For this treat, chips are replaced with chocolate and diced strawberries stand in for salsa. Here’s what you need to know about this fun mashup.

What Are the Viral Strawberry Nachos?

TikTok has been all in on strawberry-related recipes lately, with the cooking community really leaning into the viral Dubai strawberry cup (and we can see why). Now, recipe creators are trying something new and posting their berry-based take on chips and salsa. The idea is to make a simple snack that gives chocolate-covered strawberry vibes without all the work.

Ingredients for the Viral Strawberry Nachos

To make strawberry nachos, you need semisweet or dark chocolate chips or chocolate bars, fresh strawberries and coconut oil. Some commenters recommend mixing the fruit with Cool Whip, whipped cream cheese, or strawberry syrup to enhance the sweet nacho experience.

How I Made the Viral Strawberry Nachos

Grab a baking sheet and lay parchment paper on top. Melt your desired amount of chocolate chips (I used about two cups of semi-sweet) in a bowl in the microwave in 15 seconds bursts, stirring after each round. When the chocolate is melted, mix in a spoonful of coconut oil to help smooth out the chocolate and make it shiny.

Next, pour the chocolate onto the baking sheet and spread it out with a spatula (I aimed for a rectangle shape). I refrigerated for just one hour, which resulted in the chocolate melting quickly in my hands. I recommend refrigerating for several hours at least. Before eating, dice the strawberries and toss them with a little bit of sugar. Once the chocolate hardens, break off tortilla chip-sized pieces and scoop up the strawberry “salsa.”

What I Thought About Strawberry Nachos

As a chocolate and strawberry fanatic, I liked the simplicity of this recipe. However, it takes about the same amount of time as making chocolate-covered strawberries, which, in my opinion, are less messy. Even after being in the refrigerator for many hours, the chocolate still warmed in my hands, making the dessert difficult to fully enjoy.

I do think that mixing the strawberries with whipped cream would have made the dish a bit better. Overall, even though this TikTok recipe was tasty, it isn’t necessarily one that will stay in my weekly dessert rotation, so I would say it’s a skip.
