I love biscuits. And butter. I mean, I’m Southern—it’s practically in my DNA. There’s just something magical about a warm, flaky biscuit slathered in golden, melted butter. How to Make Butter Swim Biscuits
Jocelyn asked, “Who has time for complicated when you can have delicious and easy?”
Not me!
That’s why you should grab these ingredients and enjoy some biscuits that are as simple as they are delicious. To make them, you’ll need unsalted butter, flour, baking powder, salt, sugar and buttermilk.
Mix everything except the butter together in a bowl. Melt the butter, pour it into a baking dish, then spread the dough into the dish. Score the dough into squares and bake at 350° until the biscuits are fluffy and golden.
That’s it! There’s no rolling, no cutting and no drama. This is a simple batter and it bakes up into a whole lot of buttery goodness.

Why Butter Swim Biscuits Are a Game-Changer
If you’ve ever struggled with dry biscuits, these are about to change your life. Instead of cutting cold butter into the flour, you melt the butter in a baking dish and pour the biscuit batter right on top. The biscuits soak up all that rich, buttery flavor as they bake, creating a golden, crispy crust with a soft, pillowy center.
Think of them as the love child of classic biscuits and cornbread—crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside and full of buttery perfection.
The fans were out in force in the comments, too, singing the praises of these baked beauties. “I made these and they are literally the best tasting, easiest to make biscuits ever,” said one person. “The only thing I want to swim in!” added another. “Butter swimming sounds like a new Olympic sport,” added someone else. We agree and also where do we sign up?

How to Serve Butter Swim Biscuits
These biscuits are perfect on their own, but if you really want to take things to the next level, here are a few ideas.
Because biscuits and gravy are a match made in Southern heaven, whip up a batch of sausage gravy, split the biscuits, top with the gravy and enjoy! Or you could cut one of the biscuits in half and stuff it with fried chicken, ham or even a fried egg to make the best breakfast sandwich.
If you somehow manage to have leftovers (unlikely, but possible), store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days. Want to keep them fresh longer? Pop them in the fridge and reheat in the oven for a few minutes to bring back that crispiness. You can also freeze them and reheat as needed—just don’t forget to slather on more butter before serving!
