As friends and fans alike reel from the news of RuPaul’s Drag Race star The Vivienne‘s untimely passing, police have released a statement after investigating their death.

The Vivienne, also known as James Lee Williams, died over the weekend, with their publicist and manager Simon Jones first sharing the news.

A spokesperson for Cheshire Police, via Sky News, has offered an update on the reality star’s cause of death, stating, “Police attended, investigated the circumstances of the death of the 32-year-old man and concluded there were no suspicious circumstances. A file will be prepared for the coroner.”

Police were reportedly called to a house on Sunday, Jan. 5, in response to a death. No official cause of death has been publicly shared. 

The Vivienne was well known in the entertainment and drag community for their time as part of the RuPaul’s Drag Race franchise, beginning with their appearance as the first UK drag ambassador on the original TV series in 2015. They went on to win the first season of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, while also competing in RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 7. 

The late star also pursued other creative endeavors throughout their career, releasing their first EP called Bitch on Heels in 2022. They also played the role of the Wicked Witch of the West in the Wizard of Oz 2024 UK tour.

After The Vivienne’s exciting theater role, they attended the recent Wicked London movie premiere, which was one of their last public appearances before their death. 

The Vivienne’s ex-husband David Ludford recently reacted to their death, taking to social media to write a loving tribute, saying, “My heart literally sank when I got the call!! 🪽💔😔…Never in a million years did I think I’d ever be writing anything like this about James Lee Williams.”

“Going to miss you more than people will ever know sleep tight angel 🫶🏻🙏🏼🪽,” they concluded the message.
