Keen to fill up and avoid the in-flight food? You’re in luck – airports are no longer just lined with cafes selling dough sandwiches and burnt coffee; some of them are culinary destinations in their own right.

And apparently, the well-travelled editors at Bloomberg know a thing or two about airport restaurants. That’s why they’ve joined forces to compile a list of the best ones across the planet, from Mexico to Japan.

Topping the list is Duddell’s, a Michelin-starred eatery in Hong Kong International’s Terminal One, serving lip-smacking dishes like honey-glazed barbecued pork and soup noodles or salted egg custard buns.

Hungry Club, an outpost in Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport, is a venture by who Forbes describes as a ‘culinary wizard’ chef Dabiz Muñoz, which rustles up Spanish classics with a twist, and sits on this list in third place. Potato-and-egg tortilla in a burger, anyone?

In proper Texas style, Austin-Bergstrom International Airport also makes this list in sixth place thanks to The Salt Lick BBQ, which serves travellers drool-worthy platters of caramelised pilled pork, brisket, and spiced Hill County sausage. Tuck into the rest of the list below.
