The approach of cooler temperatures and shorter days fills some of us with dread, but to others, autumn’s arrival marks the beginning of one of the best times of year to travel – especially if you’re a city break kinda person.

Plenty of the world’s most fabulous cities really come into their own in that window between early September and late November, and searches for ‘autumn cities’ are up 40 percent on last year.

To help you make a decision on where to head, SkyParkSecure has analysed the search volume, number of social media posts, five-star restaurants, average hotel price and autumnal rainfall of a selection of global cities to compile this list.

So, where on the planet is best to head this autumn? According to the study, it’s London! That’s right, the UK capital boasts a staggering 39 million social media posts attached to autumn travel, and while you might associate London with being rainy at this time of year (average rainfall is second highest on the list at 57 mm), we actually think it’s a pretty great place when the heavens open

In second place it’s Seoul, which scores particularly well thanks to its impressive 4,940 five-star restaurants, and in third place it’s Paris, which is strides ahead on social media, bragging a whopping 60 million posts.
