If your 2026 travel plans revolve around what’s on your plate (as they should), consider this your hit list.

Food & Wine has just dropped a list of the planet’s very best international restaurants, chosen as part of their annual Tastemaker Awards. Winners are chosen through a vigorous selection process: over 400 experts, from chefs to travel writers, nominate ‘culinary travel experiences’ across a variety of categories; the nominees are then ranked by F&W’s Global Advisory Board.

Rather than doubling down on old-school fine dining, the experts at F&W have leaned into restaurants with a strong sense of cultural identity to rank the world’s best international restaurants. The list celebrates kitchens where the food is shaped by memory and migration, mixed with seasonality and hyper-local ingredients. Think boundary-pushing tasting menus where each dish is a small part of a greater story, or cooking that’s deeply rooted in its destination.

Ikoyi in London took the crown in this category, with F&W praising its blend of West African, East Asian and British influences. As London’s food and drink editor Leonie Cooper says in her Ikoyi review, ‘a meal at Ikoyi is an otherworldly experience’.

Maido in Lima, a restaurant shaped around Peruvian-Japanese Nikkei cuisine, took the silver, while CieL Dining in Ho Chi Minh came third. Scroll on for the top 10.
