Ontario is full of small towns with lots of charm so of course, when we come across these lovely destinations, we need to share them. That being said, there’s one just outside of the city that oozes heritage and charm. Unionville is an incredible spot to spend an afternoon and here’s why.

It’ll take you about an hour from downtown Toronto to get to Unionville, considering traffic and all. But it’s worth it.

According to Unionville’s official site, the “historically unique village” was founded in 1794 and still has many of its original buildings from the 1800s.

“We are proud of our beautiful Main Street, its merchants, and the many family-friendly events we host every year including the Unionville Festival, Old Tyme Christmas, and more,” shares the site.

And per Destination Ontario, Unionville is known for its pubs, parks, and restaurants. So it’s a must-visit destination!

On this day trip, you’ll actually get two destinations in one. The nearby Old Markham Village is equally as charming with a main street featuring old homes that have been converted into local businesses.
