There’s an Ontario conservation area that offers the perfect blend of thrills, serenity, and a dash of history! Hilton Falls Conservation Area not only has hiking and biking trails, but also breathtaking waterfalls, and the fascinating ruins of a 19th-century sawmill. Here’s what to know.

From Toronto, it’ll take you about an hour and a half to get to Hilton Falls Conservation Area. This is the perfect escape for nature lovers and thrill-seekers alike. Bring your bikes and sport some great walking boots as the park boasts hiking and mountain biking trails just begging to be explored.

According to Conservation Halton, adventurers can explore three trails designed for mountain bikers, while hikers and runners enjoy the Red Oak Trail.

As for the Hilton Falls Trail, it offers a short walk to the stunning waterfall and the remains of three historic sawmills.

The ruins tell the story of sawmills that once supplied lumber to the Nassagaweya Township.

Per Conservation Halton, the remnants suggest there was once a well-built mill and dam, including a massive 40-foot water wheel powering the operation.

Sadly, two of the mills were destroyed by fire, and the area was abandoned in 1967.

In addition to its trails, Hilton Falls offers picnic areas and scenic spots ideal for photography. So be sure to bring a snack – you’ll want to rest up by the falls and embrace the natural surroundings.

The fusion of adventure and history makes it a must-visit destination for families, athletes, and history buffs alike, especially in the fall season.
